Frank Lampard is to be finally getting the attention

After the plentiful talk about Liverpool star Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard is to be finally getting the attention that he has deserved for quite a while.

Just as with Gerrard, Lampard will be making his final Premier League appearance when Manchester City play against Southampton in the final game of the campaign. Even though Gerrard has been getting a lot of attention, there has been surprising silence surrounding Lampard. The England midfielder remains as one of the greatest midfielders to have graced the Premier League. After all, he is the record goal scorer from the midfield and is Chelsea’s all-time top goal scorer.

Jose Mourinho was widely criticised for allowing Lampard to leave the club. However, not many expected Lampard to make the return to the Premier League with Manchester City just a few months after announcing that he would be joining New York City FC. This move is finally expected to happen after the conclusion of the Premier League campaign. Lampard has had some excellent moments in the last 12 months and this even included scoring against his former club Chelsea. Despite this, Mourinho reckons that the midfielder will be regarded as a legend and that it is a big loss to English football that he is leaving.

“In the same way I had a few words about Steven Gerrard, I have to do with even more emotion about Frank Lampard, also playing his last match in the Premier League. One of my best players ever, one of my best professionals ever, a Chelsea legend and a legend in the Premier League. So, last match for Frank, and I have to honour him and wish him the best in the States. I hope he can come back to England as soon as possible because people like him make this country much better. He is a big loss for English football,” said Mourinho.
