Frank Lampard branded Aguero to be Best in Football World

Former Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has branded striker Sergio Aguero as one of the best in the world.

The Argentine international managed to rescue Manchester City from the jaws of defeat after scoring a hat-trick against Bayern Munich. City needed a win from this match as well as from the final Champions League group match against Roma in order to stand any chance of qualifying to the last 16 stages. Midfielder Nasri spoke about the need to qualify in order to retain the current squad. City have been one of the dominant teams in the Premier League over the last three years, but they have struggled massively in European competitions.

It looked like a repeat of the same after Bayern Munich managed to get a 2-1 advantage in the match is played being down to 10 men. Former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso and Robert Lewandowski score the goals for the German club after Sergio Aguero had given the lead for the home team early in the first half. Aguero’s first goal came through penalty, but he had to do much more for the next two goals. Just when it seemed that City were heading for yet another home defeat in the Champions League, Aguero stepped up with an equaliser in the 85th minute before hitting an injury time winner.

"It was a special night in the end. He is something incredible. When he runs through you expect him to score he is at the top of his game and one of the top strikers in the world. We kept believing even though the clock was ticking it is difficult, but I did feel there were chances in it for us, especially the fact they were down to ten men and there were spaces at the back and thank god we have got that man up front," said Lampard.
