Frank Lampard says Jose will restore Glory days of MU

Frank Lampard says that José Mourinho has the ability to restore the former glory days at Manchester United.

The Portuguese boss is widely expected to take over from Louis van Gaal in the summer. Several reports suggest that he has already signed a four-year contract with the club worth around £ 60 million, which would make him the highest-paid manager in the world. This figure would take him beyond Pep Guardiola’s contract with Manchester City. Lampard is widely regarded as one of the trusted players of Mourinho. Both share a great relationship after having been part of numerous title victories in the past.

The former England midfielder says that Mourinho is a winner wherever he has been. This will be the case even after his move to United. The Red Devils have not won a major trophy since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson. An ill-fated regime of David Moyes lasted only a few months before Van Gaal was brought in as his successor. A serial winner at his previous clubs, the Dutchman was handed huge sums of transfer money in the hope of rejuvenating the club. However, the squad now looks disoriented and far away from winning the title in the eyes of many.

Lampard also stated that Chelsea’s potential next manager Antonio Conte also has a huge task on his hands. “I think Mourinho can manage anywhere in the world. I think he’s shown it with his record and whether it’s with Porto, a so-called smaller team in Europe; Chelsea, the success he had there; Inter, again taking a team that’s hardly won the Champions League to go and win it; Real Madrid. No job will be too much for him. [Manchester United is] not an easy job, similar with Antonio Conte with Chelsea, but he certainly has the attributes to do it,” said Lampard.
